Telematic and pharmaceutical certification in one step: idem telematics enables quality according to GDP
- New service in collaboration with the European Institute for Pharma Logistics GmbH
- Shippers of pharmaceutical transports receive telematics and qualification from a single source
- Simplified process, lower costs and verifiability for every individual unit
Wiehl/Munich, 15/08/2018 --- Idem telematics provides its customers in the pharmaceutical industry with a new service: in collaboration with the European Institute for Pharma Logistics GmbH (EIPL), telematics solutions for temperature-controlled transports can now be qualified in order to meet the requirements of Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
Patients should be able to have trust in the fact that medications are correctly stored and transported. The European GDP Guideline ensures this security. It also obliges shippers and forwarding agents to continuously and verifiably monitor the pharmaceutical cold chain. The telematics solutions for trucks and trailers from idem telematics monitor the temperatures during the entire transportation period. The EIPL certificate verifies the reliability of the telematics system, particularly for service providers in pharmaceutical logistics.
"Shippers are increasingly demanding more proof from their carriers that they can move these sensitive goods safely", explains Heiko Boch, Head of Product Management at idem telematics."In order to ensure this, corresponding certification is being requested even more. As the first telematics provider on the market, we had the idea to provide the installation of the devices and the qualification of the telematics system as a complete package, in order to fulfil the special quality requirements of these customers. We have designed a closed process which enables installation acceptance and this allows us to further expand our pharmaceutical expertise."
The haulage contractor receives everything from a single source: they save time, because installation and the necessary documentation required for qualification are processed in the workshop in one go. The contractor does not have to re-qualify or search for a service provider and manage the process themselves, rather idem telematics carries out the entire communication with the qualifier. Qualification can be verified and documented for every individual system, which creates security and transparency.
idem telematics and EIPL nominate the respective workshop, how the installation and calibration of the temperature sensor need to be executed and how everything must be documented. "The procedure which we use for this has been examined by EIPL for suitability", says Boch. The installation documentation and the correct data transmission are also verified by EIPL. "The customer receives a certificate after the test has been passed, which certifies the pharmaceutical suitability of the built-in telematics – and therefore the temperature recording. They can thus verify that they employ GDP-compliant temperature recording."
With EIPL, idem telematics has chosen a competent partner in the market place: the company specialises in all aspects of pharmaceutical transportation and storage. It assists all players in the pharmaceutical supply chain to achieve GDP compliance which allows them to safeguard the quality of products against damage due to temperature deviations, manipulation, contamination or even theft. "We combine our profound experience in temperature-controlled logistics with quality management and pharmaceutical industry expertise – something on which our customers can rely completely", says Christian Specht, Managing Director of EIPL. Heiko Boch from idem telematics is very satisfied with the collaboration: "As a renowned, independent institute, EIPL has a wealth of know-how in the fields of pharmaceuticals and certification and therefore optimally complements our services for customers in the industry".
idem telematics will present their range of solutions at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Fair in Hanover at BPW Group's stand – C31 – in Hall 26 from the 20th to 27th of September.
