Telematics for all: idem telematics makes transport networking easier for forwarders with new hardware concept

  • Entry into telematics with the new TC Trailer Gateway BASIC and digitalisation of the fleet made easier than ever before
  • New TC Trailer Gateway PRO: The "Swiss Army Knife" for more demanding transport tasks and even more data generation
  • With numerous interfaces, the innovative hardware concept supports all vehicle types, from curtainsiders to refrigerated boxes, independent of manufacturer
  • Service app enables independent installation, commissioning and diagnosis in record time

Munich/Ulm, 15.04.2021 --- The networking of drivers, freight and vehicle is indispensable for more and more transport and logistics companies today – but at the same time, many hauliers are in danger of being left behind when it comes to digitalisation. Therefore, idem telematics is now simplifying entry into and expansion of fleet networking: with new types of hardware, expandable functions and a simplified installation and commissioning process with the help of a service app.

idem telematics has established itself as the European market leader with its principle of system openness: the telematics portal cargofleet 3 not only networks all vehicle types and transport uses, but also supports different transport management systems and even hauliers' own uses. idem telematics has drastically simplified the associated hardware while at the same time redefining the standard scope: With the TC Trailer Gateway family, consisting of the new TC Trailer Gateway BASIC and the TC Trailer Gateway PRO, two new devices are being launched. With the new TC Trailer Gateway BASIC, idem telematics is now ushering in the price-sensitive standard trailer segment, such as curtainsiders and box bodies, without sidelining a diverse range of functions in the new entry-level class. The new TC Trailer Gateway PRO sets new benchmarks of interfaces and range of application, particularly those required for food and pharmaceutical transport.

Another brand new feature is the possibility of commissioning and diagnosing the TC Trailer Gateway family: after installing the telematics unit, the service app is connected to the TC Trailer Gateway via WiFi and then guides the user step-by-step through the components to be configured. The app immediately displays all received data, such as the connected EBS or the tyre pressure sensors. This way, units can be put into operation within a few minutes. This greatly facilitates the expansion and retrofitting of existing vehicle fleets.

Despite a lower price, idem telematics makes no compromises on quality, sturdiness and functional scope with the TC Trailer Gateway BASIC. Wireless interfaces for tyre pressure monitoring (TPMS), Bluetooth and WiFi are also included in the new entry-level class. As is the electronic trailer brake performance monitoring (EBPMS). Getting started with safety-enhancing, fuel-efficient and data-based services has never been easier. In this way, telematics is advancing from being special equipment to being the "new normal" of the transport industry. Leading trailer manufacturers such as Schwarzmüller and Wielton already supply their vehicles from the factory with TC Trailer Gateways from idem telematics.

The TC Trailer Gateway PRO also offers even more interfaces, particularly also for compliance with relevant regulations from the food or pharmaceutical industry, such as certified temperature recording in accordance with EN 12830:2018, or monitoring and alerting in the event of door opening.

Be it high-end or entry-level telematics: the TC Trailer Gateway family from idem telematics can be implemented and expanded according to requirements and also ensure a smooth flow of data in mixed fleets of different vehicle manufacturers.

Jens Zeller, managing director of idem telematics: "With the TC Trailer Gateway PRO, we are offering the transport industry a hardware that is as versatile as a Swiss army knife. There is no transport task that this device cannot support efficiently; right up to top of the line certified pharmaceutical transport. On the other hand, the new TC Trailer Gateway BASIC now makes the open system trailer telematics affordable for everyone – and with an excellent spectrum of capacity. Thus, we are also enabling beginners to tap into the efficiency gains of telematics, step-by-step and at their own pace."

The core of the idem telematics telematics platform is the system-open, all-in-one portal cargofleet 3, the technological scope of which has also been expanded. Jens Zeller: "The fact that our system communicates with all hardware and software systems is not the only decisive factor, but also that it communicates with telematics from market competitors. Our aim is to supply crucial information to each user in the logistics process at exactly the right moment – be it about the driver, dispatcher, receiver or sender. By doing this, we open up a new world of transport efficiency for the transport industry."
