Agriculture 4.0: Total transparency in driving, loading, spreading, feeding and weighing with the BPW AGRO Hub weighing system

  • Now in the series: chassis computer and digital weighing system for agriculture and construction
  • System weighs precisely, even when driving on uneven surfaces
  • Versatile application options - from a spreader to a feed mixer
  • Reduced operating costs and accurate billing for contractors

Wiehl/Szombathely, 18 September 2019 --- Contractors and cultivators can now continuously digitally monitor the total weight and the usable load of their drawbar trailers – even during use: the running gear computer AGRO Hub, which BPW will present at Agritechnica 2019 (Hall 15, Booth E05), controls and measures the use of spreaders and loading and feed mixers. Even transport drawbar trailers are saved the detour via weighbridges and yard scales. The system can be wirelessly networked and does not require any moving mechanics.

With the AGRO Hub system, BPW is providing the automotive industry with a digital all-rounder that pays dividends in a wide variety of deployment scenarios: sensors consistently record the axle load, the speed and the rotational direction of the drawbar trailer and gain a wealth of useful data from it: the total weight of the drawbar trailer as well its daily and total mileage, operating hours, maintenance intervals and much more. The data can be read both via ISOBUS without additional terminals in the towing vehicle and via radio technology: the accompanying app presents the information in clear graphics on the smartphone or tablet computer. The system makes billing easier for contractors – can be selected according to weight, hours or other performance parameters.

The weighing system is the key for efficient production processes in most agricultural vehicle types: in the spreader, the weight-dependent spreading quantity regulation is the prerequisite for ensuring that fertilisers can be applied precisely in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner. The loading vehicle protects the system from overloading by automatically switching off the scraper floor. Cattle breeders want to know how much feed the feed mixer has loaded and unloaded. Thanks to the weighing system, they always have full control - even with a fully loaded mixing container and even on uneven farmland. The AGRO Hub saves transport vehicles from detouring to weighbridges - saving time and money. Also, the delivery of partial quantities to different customers can be easily controlled and documented.

The sensors are specially designed for robust applications and produce reliable measuring results, even in the case of extreme temperature fluctuations. A clever algorithm ensures that even potholes can not lead to false measurement results. BPW has applied for a patent for the weight sensor attachment.

The BPW AGRO Hub is now being offered as an option by leading manufacturers of agricultural machinery. Peter Lindner, BPW Agrar Sales Director for Germany and Benelux, expects that the weighing system will quickly assert itself on the market: "The AGRO Hub makes a significant contribution to increasing the efficiency of agriculture, quickly paying for itself. We have developed the system in close collaboration with cultivators and vehicle manufacturers, which is why it's assembly is as well thought-out and straightforward as the everyday use. "

BPW gets its grips on the brake force of unsprung agricultural machinery

Unsprung agricultural and forestry vehicles are feared obstacles on the road, and not only at harvest time: their brakes can only be adjusted by hand – a rather fiddly and risky guesswork. The EU has therefore tightened regulations. The answer from BPW is as simple as it is ingenious: with a patent-pending fully mechanical system, drivers now have the brakes quite literally in their hands.
