BPW at BAUMA: this is how smart axle and running gear solutions are mastering new challenges in the construction and transport industry

  • From standard to special vehicles: BPW solutions are now making trailers smarter and more efficient
  • BAUMA innovations in the outdoor area, Stand FN 821.9
  • Peter Lindner: "Making medium-sized commercial vehicle manufacturers strong"

Wiehl, 28/02/2025 --- BAUMA 2025 in Munich is marked by new challenges for the construction industry – from AI and cost pressures to the climate debate. The BPW Group presents intelligent axle and running gear solutions that make commercial vehicles more individual, smarter and more efficient.

The exhibits of the special vehicle manufacturers are among the crowd-pullers at BAUMA (7th to 13th April in Munich): trailers that transport construction machinery to their place of use even on difficult terrain, that handle huge concrete components, transport glass panes without breakage from A to B or that enable spectacular special transports over land are fascinating feats of engineering. But making the impossible transportable is not the only challenge vehicle manufacturers are facing today: construction and special transports must be more intelligent, economical and safer than ever. As a leading system partner, the BPW Group enables commercial vehicle manufacturers to take on any challenge: in the outdoor exhibition area at BAUMA (Stand FN 821.9), BPW will be showcasing a broad portfolio of solutions that make customised transport even more efficient, smart and sustainable.

Advanced swing axle technology for demanding applications

New 7t swing axle: BPW presents a further-developed 7t swing axle that reliably manoeuvres vehicles across difficult terrain. The use of state-of-the-art production technologies and the clever integration of large-scale production components means that it offers an optimised ratio of weight, installation space and price – with uncompromisingly high BPW quality.

AGRO Robust: BPW presents a 30t swing axle unit for particularly demanding application scenarios, ideal für dump trucks in construction or mining industry. Optional steerability opens up additional design options for vehicle manufacturers to create customised solutions.

More manoeuvrable, safer – and yet affordable: ARC auxiliary steering now also for low loaders with two self-steering axles

Active Reverse Control (ARC): the proven electro-hydraulic auxiliary steering 'Active Reverse Control' (ARC) from BPW now also makes low loaders with two self-steering axles more manoeuvrable than ever. It enables precise manoeuvring forwards and backwards without requiring an expensive mechanical forced steering system, thus making multi-axle low loaders more manoeuvrable, safer and more economical. At BAUMA, BPW will demonstrate how compact and flexible the ARC components can be – even in the tightest of installation spaces.

AI-supported running gear functions optimise the transport process

iC Plus: at BPW, individual transportation also means intelligent transportation. This is why BPW is presenting the new iC Plus running gear generation for the first time at BAUMA. The system determines axle loads, monitors tyre pressures and, among other things, uses AI to provide early feedback about braking performance and the status of the brake pads. At the same time, upcoming maintenance deadlines can be managed with the help of a digital maintenance calendar via the cargofleet 3 telematics platform. This increases the efficiency of the entire transport process. With the iC Plus retrofit kit, transport companies can easily retrofit the intelligent running gear and telematics features to existing trailer 9t axles from the ECO Air and Airlight II series. BPW is offering the iC Plus retrofit kit at a special price at Bauma.

Distinctive brand identity thanks to innovative lighting technology

ERMAX logo lighting: the BPW subsidiary Ermax is presenting a new generation of its LED rear lights, which display the logo of vehicle manufacturers as a characteristic light signature. This clever and cost-efficient solution now also allows medium-sized vehicle manufacturers to present their brand identity in an impressive manner.

Peter Lindner, Director of Sales Customised Solutions at BPW: "With our BAUMA innovations, we are supporting trailer manufacturers in meeting the challenges of the construction and transport industry – from cost-efficiency and sustainability to digitalisation. In this way, we are particularly helping medium-sized special vehicle manufacturers to actively shape the future of transport."
