Remanufacturing of trailer brake callipers redefined: BPW launches Reman Line at the highest level of quality and safety

  • Economical alternative for older vehicles for the first time in genuine BPW quality
  • Use of more than 80 per cent new parts when remanufacturing at the BPW Brake Competence Centre
  • Unique: 12-month guarantee and full validity of the 5-year ECO Plus Warranty
  • No compromises on safety-relevant components

Economic pressure in the transport industry means that operators of older trailers are increasingly turning to cheaper, refurbished components. However, their origin and reliability are often unclear. With the new Reman Line, BPW is now offering remanufactured ECO Disc TSB brake callipers of the highest quality and with a comprehensive guarantee for the first time.

Wiehl, 09.04.2024 --- Safety and quality are trademarks of the BPW Group – and this also applies to spare parts. At BPW, genuine spare parts have always been identical to original equipment parts, as their production is not outsourced to separate production lines or even external suppliers. Now, BPW has redefined the remanufacturing of brake callipers for the first ECO Disc TSB trailer disc brake series with the same commitment to quality. In this way, BPW enables operators of older trailers in particular to carry out particularly cost-effective, safe and sustainable repairs at the familiar level of quality and safety. Remanufacturing takes place at the BPW Brake Competence Centre not far from the company headquarters, where the genuine parts also roll off the production line. Central production steps – including assembly and 100 per cent end-of-line testing – take place using the same machines and testing systems. This sets BPW apart from third-party suppliers who do not assemble according to BPW specifications.

BPW only utilises some of the main components for the Reman Line, in particular the housing. BPW replaces many safety-relevant internal components in the sealed brake calliper housing with new parts: they ensure safety-relevant functions such as power transmission and transfer, adjustment in the event of increasing wear to the brake lining, and the resetting of the disc brake after application of the brakes. ECO Disc brake callipers from the Reman Line consist of around 80 per cent new parts. This enables BPW to make a unique promise: in addition to a 12-month warranty, the familiar 5-year ECO Plus Warranty remains valid when using Reman brake callipers.

BPW marks the Reman brake callipers with a green type plate to avoid confusion. At the same time, the colour code indicates the ecological balance of reconditioning, which consumes significantly less energy than the manufacture of new service products: for example, up to 376 tonnes less CO2 are emitted when remanufacturing 10,000 BPW brake callipers than when producing new BPW OES brake callipers.

Matthias Stoof, Head of Sales OES at BPW: "With the Reman Line, we are realising the economic efficiency of remanufacturing with BPW's quality and safety standards for the first time. Our production literally makes conventional remanufacturing processes look old."
