Save costs and increase efficiency with telematics
- GRIESHABER Logistik relies on telematics from idem telematics for safe pharmaceutical transport.
- The transport company plans to equip its entire pharmaceutical fleet with it in the near future and is testing the new cargofleet Driver SL app.
- An innovative maintenance calendar makes it much easier to organise vehicle maintenance.
Munich/Ulm, 22 October 2024 --- Telematics technology is essential for the business of many transport companies, especially in the pharmaceutical sector. Sensitive freight is one of the most important business areas for GRIESHABER Logistik GmbH: it transports items such as human medical products, medical devices, production and freezer tanks, hazardous substances and laboratory samples at temperatures from -95 to +25 degrees Celsius. To ensure their safe, efficient transportation and seamless monitoring, it uses solutions from idem telematics, the leading European expert in transport telematics. The logistics company operates 18 traction units and the associated refrigerated trailers and swap trailers, which are equipped with telematics devices. These send data to the idem telematics cargofleet 3 portal. The company is also testing the new cargofleet Driver SL app – a tablet with logistics software from idem telematics.
Certified monitoring
Telematics ensures certified monitoring in the vehicles: it shows the location of the trucks and thus the loaded goods at all times. The technology also monitors temperatures, the status of the refrigeration units, entries and exits from predefined geofences, door openings, idle times, tyre pressures, the routes checked and defined in advance and the set points on the refrigeration units. All of this key data is proactively monitored and any deviations are immediately reported to the desired distribution group by email and text message. This ensures that adherence to temperature specifications for pharmaceutical products is fully monitored and documented and that both legal requirements and customer requirements are reliably fulfilled. A maintenance calendar has also been integrated: this innovative tool provides a complete overview of completed, upcoming and due maintenance work on the vehicles and refrigeration units and reminds users accordingly about upcoming appointments. This makes it significantly easier to organise vehicle maintenance: it supports efficient planning, optimises vehicle utilisation and reduces downtime. The maintenance calendar saves costs and improves efficiency.
Telematics ensure security
The team at GRIESHABER Logistik is particularly impressed by the user-friendliness and clarity of the telematics from idem telematics. ‘The technology effectively supports the daily work of our teams and contributes towards process optimisation in the field of transport monitoring,’ states Thomas Scheunemann, Head of the Pharmaceutical Transport and Shuttle Department at GREISHABER Logistik GmbH. Above all, it provides reliability: ‘Process deviations are displayed and reported immediately – then we can intervene directly. The reporting function enables us to document and track loading and unloading times, which is particularly important in the temperature-controlled sector.’ Telematics also provides support in analysing the fleet in that it enables comprehensive monitoring and traceability of all transport steps and data relating to the integrity of the goods, the driver and the vehicle.
Direct access to order, vehicle and temperature data
GRIESHABER Logistik has recently started testing a new application from idem telematics: the cargofleed Driver SL app. The logistics software is installed on a tablet and offers the driver direct access to order, vehicle and temperature data. The driver can see the logistics processes and workflows, as well as the temperatures, alarms and technical data. It can also communicate with the control centre via the app.
GRIESHABER Logistik was founded in 1951. Today, the internationally operating transport company, based in Weingarten in the German state of Baden-Wurttemberg, offers customised transport and logistics solutions – with over 820 employees, 14 logistics centres and a fleet of 125 traction units. In addition to the robust and high-quality products, Thomas Scheunemann particularly appreciates the team’s professional and committed approach to him as a customer: ‘We always have the feeling that we are on equal footing. Our open, honest communication and the corresponding transparency, as well as the fast and efficient problem-solving speak for themselves.’ Based on the positive experience with the solutions from idem telematics, GREISHABER Logistik plans to equip all vehicles used in the pharmaceutical industry with the telematics system. Furthermore, it is endeavouring to implement additional telematics services, for example for electric vehicles or battery packs on cargofleet 3.
