Wiehl, 7 September 2026 --- Smartphones have long been an integral part of the toolkit in commercial vehicle workshops: mechanics use them to scan the QR code on a BPW axle directly on the trailer and receive the spare parts list for the specific running gear via the MyBPW service portal. Processes that previously often had to be carried out manually are now fully digital – opening up a new sales channel for the independent spare parts trade: at Automechanika in Frankfurt, BPW presents the direct link between the independent spare parts trade and MyBPW.

BPW thus solves a common problem in the spare parts business: the wide variety of models and older vehicles often make it difficult to clearly identify parts. Incorrectly transmitted part numbers or incompatible parts mean extra work for garages and retailers – and, in the worst-case scenario, prolong the downtime of the vehicle.

From the scan straight into the shopping basket

This is why BPW has systematically digitised its spare parts identification system in recent years. QR codes on running gears lead mechanics straight to vehicle-specific information in MyBPW. You can find spare parts lists and technical data there. Supplementary components are also displayed.

In future, this digital process will continue right through to the order: the mechanic scans the QR code, selects the required parts from the parts list and adds them to the virtual shopping basket. In addition to scanning the QR code, you can also select an item by searching for text or by entering the item number directly. They then select their preferred retailer and are taken directly to that retailer’s ordering system – without having to re-enter any product codes. The system also displays availability and delivery times. The order is processed via the retailer’s existing procedures.

This is how a parts enquiry turns into sale

BPW thus provides the independent spare parts trade with additional digital access to existing and potential customers: 200,000 spare parts enquiries are currently processed via the BPW system every month. In future, these search and identification processes may be integrated directly into the selected retailer’s ordering process.

The retailer remains the seller and the customer’s point of contact; prices, terms and the rest of the transaction remain entirely in their hands.

"Workshops value our digital spare parts identification system because it offers certainty: the mechanic can go straight from the vehicle to the correct parts without having to look up part numbers," explains Matthias Stoof, Head of OES Aftermarket at BPW. "We are now closing the final gap before the order is placed – and we are doing this deliberately in collaboration with independent spare parts retailers. We are not selling over our partners' heads; instead, we are opening up new business opportunities for them."

The new partner model is aimed at the independent spare parts trade – from regional specialist retailers to large retail groups. Interested retailers can experience the new sales channel in person: from 8th to 12th September 2026, BPW will be providing information on how to get connected and take part at its stand in Hall 6, Stand B55 at Automechanika in Frankfurt am Main.
