Weighed and approved: BPW presents running gear computer with integrated weighing system at Bauma

Press release   •   Mar 07, 2019 14:04 CET

From the wheelhouse to the tablet: The AGRO Hub transfers gathered data using wireless communication.
  • Data is wirelessly transmitted from the running gear to a tablet or smartphone
  • Weight sensors on the axle measure to about two percent accuracy
  • Peter Lindner: "Integrated solution for billing services by weight"

Wiehl, 07.03.2019 --- BPW now makes it possible to determine the weight of the load using a new type of sensor that via a hub wirelessly transmits its data from the drawbar trailer axle directly to end devices and via an ISO bus interface also to the driver's cab. This allows drivers and transport companies to gain full transparency over mileage and transported quantities – and can also bill by weight.

BPW will be presenting the enhanced AGRO Hub running gear computer at the Bauma trade fair in Munich (8–14 April; outdoor exhibition area stand FN.827/9). For the first time, it not only determines precise data about the mileage, but also the weight of the drawbar trailer. The sensors for this are located directly on the axle. From the data obtained in this way, the weight can be calculated with an accuracy of about 98 percent, without costly and fragile mechanical components. The weight can be displayed and documented on a smartphone or tablet computer, thus allowing contractors to invoice their services according to weight. Partial deliveries can also be divided and invoiced based on weight. The information can be transmitted wirelessly via the BPW AGRO app to Android smartphones and now also via ISO Bus communication channels to the tractor unit's indicating device. BPW therefore ensures a secure connection between the drawbar trailer and tractor, and always provides the driver with the running gear information.

The AGRO Hub weighing system was presented to the specialist public for the first time at the Agritechnica trade fair in autumn 2017. The system records the running gear's daily and total performance in hours and kilometres, and also documents the speeds driven. Evaluating driving behaviour for example allows conclusions to be drawn on the wear of the vehicle's tyres and brakes. The system has an information function that reminds users to service the unit in good time. It also provides information about the access to spare parts list for the running gear, corresponding maintenance instructions or documents.

"The BPW Agro Hub is another example of how innovations from high-tech agriculture are increasingly finding their way into the construction sector," explains Peter Lindner, Head of Agricultural Sales for Germany and the Benelux countries at BPW in Wiehl. "The new weighing system is particularly robust and quickly pays for itself, even for construction companies."

At the Bauma trade fair in Munich, BPW will be presenting the enhanced AGRO Hub running gear computer, which was presented for the first time at Agritechnica 2017.
