Even with heavy factory traffic, the rumbling diesel noise is becoming increasingly rare at BPW in Wiehl as more and more electric forklifts, transporters, company cars and even two mighty 40-ton trucks whizz silently across the premises.

BPW expects CO2-pricing to drive innovation in transport and logistics

Between 2017 and 2018, BPW Bergische Achsen KG reduced its CO2 emissions by 60 percent to 7,855 tonnes. This dramatic reduction in greenhouse gas emissions at the main production plant was made possible by shifting to green electricity and e-mobility. However, the family business sees the highest potential for more climate protection in its innovations for transport and logistics.

Digital independence for forwarders: idem telematics wins German Telematics Award

Europe's leading trailer telematics system is also the best. This is the verdict given by the German Telematics Award panel of experts, one which is bestowed once every two years: idem telematics successfully relies on the principle of system openness in order to network practically everything in transport – including competing third-party systems. That's why forwarders also give top marks.

VISION mobility readers name BPW ‘Best supplier’

BPW shines at the IAA in Frankfurt as ‘Best supplier’ – the medium-sized company that actually specialises in commercial vehicle and transport technologies. VISION mobility, Deloitte and the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) honored BPW for a drive axle that can be used in the conversion of trucks from diesel to electric drives.

The power of the network: German SMEs to become innovation drivers of electric transport

Who will lead the breakthrough for emission-free logistics in cities? What contribution can politics make? Is Germany in danger of losing the technological edge – or will all players now be able to make electrical transport a success story together? Top decision-makers from industry, research, politics and associations discussed these questions at BPW's first "Electric Networking Night" in Munich.

Good for your wallet and for the environment: with AirSave, a three-axle vehicle not only saves more than 700 euros a year, but also 655 kilos of CO2.

AirSave: BPW automatically controls tyre and cost pressure

The shreds of blown truck tyres are a typical sight along the edge of the motorway. Yet blown truck tyres are anything but harmless – tyre blowouts are highly dangerous and even minimal pressure losses can be extremely costly for hauliers. This is why BPW will soon be offering a tyre pressure control system ex works that pays for itself during the very first year.

At bauma BPW will be presenting the options available for conversion with the eTransport electric drive axle on the AWB Köln company’s Mercedes-Benz Vario with special bodywork.

BPW to showcase an electrically retrofitted lorry for municipal waste management at the bauma trade fair

Managers of municipal commercial vehicle fleets are some of the regular visitors to bauma, the world’s leading trade fair for construction vehicles and machinery (8–14 April). BPW is bringing a very special vehicle to Munich on their behalf: a Mercedes-Benz Vario of Cologne’s municipal waste management company AWB, which has been converted from diesel to an electric drive.

The BPW BrakePadMonitor for monitoring brake lining wear soon pays for itself and lasts as long as the trailer.

Predictive maintenance: BPW now offers measurement of brake lining wear in the trailer with a new sensor

The next generation of Europe’s top-selling trailer disc brake is in the starting blocks – but it doesn't come alone: BPW is also supplying a completely redeveloped sensor which is the first to continuously measure brake lining wear and thus enable visits to the garage to be timed perfectly. The system requires no maintenance and can be retrofitted for all BPW trailer disc brakes.

BPW supplies electric drive for new lorry project from PEM at RWTH Aachen, Isuzu Motors Germany and StreetScooter

Electric vans are being spotted in more and more inner cities – most of them in the bright distinctive colours of the postal service, delivering letters, parcels and packages. Yet truly heavy loads are soon to be transported electrically, too: BPW is supplying the drive axle technology for a research project at RWTH Aachen aimed at helping the electric lorry achieve their breakthrough.
